Arthur Hinnewinkel
Born in the United States in 2000, Arthur Hinnewinkel began playing the piano at age 7 in Singapore. In France, he entered the Conservatoire Régional de Rueil-Malmaison under Chantal Riou, then the Conservatoire Régional de Paris under Anne-Lise Gastaldi, a period during which he won his first competition prizes (Flame, Claude Kahn, and Île-de-France Competitions). At age 15, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris to further hone his skills in the piano class of Hortense Cartier-Bresson and Fernando Rossano, as well as in chamber music with Claire Désert, François Salque, Maria Belooussova, and Itamar Golan. Arthur is currently continuing his training at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium with Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.
He performs at major French festivals as a soloist and chamber musician (Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Easter and August Festivals in Deauville, Wissembourg Festival, Chopin Festival in Paris, Festival Musique à La Prée, Classicaval Festival in Val d'Isère, Pont-Croix Festival...), as well as at the Musée Guimet, the Musée de la Vie Romantique, the Teatro di Marcello in Rome, and the Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris. He has also been featured on the radio for Génération France Musique and the Concerts de 20 heures.
In 2023, he was a Finalist at the Clara Haskil Competition and laureate of the Modern Times Special Prize. In February 2024, he won the Thierry Scherz and André Hoffmann Prizes at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, through which he recorded an album dedicated to Robert Schumann's complete works for piano and orchestra with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra conducted by Marc Coppey, released on the Claves label in January 2025.
He won 4th Prize at the 2025 Queen Elisabeth Competition.
Arthur is an Artist-in-Residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.
