Mezzo-Soprano and Piano duo

Duo 2.3

Pianist Juliette Dournaud and mezzo-soprano Laura Jarrell met in 2023 during concerts with the Orchestre de Chambre de la Drôme. From this encounter Duo 2.3 was born, driven by an immediate artistic affinity and a shared desire to explore the vast voice and piano repertoire while bringing rare or overlooked works to light.

Laura, well-versed in Baroque, Classical, and Romantic repertoires, and Juliette, a specialist in modern and contemporary music, blend their worlds to create innovative programs. Their repertoire spans multiple eras: from Romantic Lieder to French mélodies, alongside works from the 20th and 21st centuries.

It also highlights the richness and diversity of women's musical creation across the centuries. Duo 2.3 regularly includes works by female composers such as Claude Arrieu, Lili Boulanger, Germaine Tailleferre, Libby Larsen, Amy Beach, Rita Strohl, Isabelle Aboulker, Marie Jaëll, Alma Mahler, Marguerite Canal, and Ana Sokolović in their programming.

Duo 2.3 performs regularly in recitals, festival concerts, and private events. They are laureates of the Concours de la Mélodie de Gordes and the 13th Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition. In 2026, Juliette and Laura are scheduled to give numerous concerts across France and Switzerland, and will compete in the 15th International Competition for Lied Art Stuttgart (Germany) in the autumn.
